I wrote an article earlier this week explaining how the storage management works on the new Nokia Lumia 1020 since it stores a 38 and a 5 MP file of the images you take with the integrated Pro Camera Lens app.  Well it turns out that the 38 MP version of your main image you will take can only be backed up by copy and pasting it from your device while connected as a drive to your PC.  All the other versions of that images will  be backed-up to your SkyDrive. However if you have an AT&T Windows Phone, AT&T has their own SkyDrive  like service called AT&T Locker.

AT&T Locker can be found on your AT&T Windows Phone in the AT&T section of the Store or directly by clicking here. You can create an account directly on the app or on the AT&T Locker website directly. Once you signed up you have standard a 5 GB on cloud storage available to you. But here is the trick!!. Once you go to your account settings on the website you can upgrade your plan. Just follow the following sequence.

  1. Login at : https://locker.att.net
  2. Go To your account settings: https://locker.att.net/app/#accountsettings
  3. Click on the arrow down under “My Plan”
  4. Here you will see the status of your 5 GB storage plan. Select Upgrade Plan
  5. I did see a FREE upgrade to the 50 GB plan here and selected it. This was the only option by the way.

You might be able to this on the app as well. I haven’t tried it since I already upgraded my plan through the website.

The app allows you to individually upload images, music files, documents and lets you Share these stored item by their attlockerown integrated email app or on Facebook, Twitter and….well Myspace! The settings of the app can be set to Enable Easy Upload over WiFi only or WiFi and Cellular. The app does auto search in your people hub by email.

During the Nokia Lumia 1020 launch event I got confirmation that you are able to back up your High Resolution Pictures taken with the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Of course this app is available to all AT&T  Smartphone users and even online for everyone else. Hey just go get it even if you don’t have a smartphone. 50 GB of free cloud storage is waiting for you.
